Chapter 49 Indianapolis

Veterans For Peace Chapter 49 Indianapolis is a local organization of military veterans and families affiliated with the national Veterans For Peace, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and a Non-Governmental Organization of the United Nations.

We seek the best we can be as Americans, a society that pursues constructive long-term solutions to resolve conflicts and to provide meaningful and fulfilling lives for all concerned. We followed the call to serve our country and to fight for Freedom and Democracy. We swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and its values in equality, justice, and responsibility for all members of our society... a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. We continue to serve to realize an America that lives up to our own values and ideals towards a peaceful and just society.

Goals and Mission

The overall chapter goal, or vision of how we can be as Americans, is a Peaceful and Just Society..

In seeking to be a voice and resource for peace and justice, our primary objectives towards achieving this goal are to:

We have also defined our chapter mission as:

As veterans who have served our country with honor and having taking an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, we continue to serve to realize an America dedicated to peace and justice. Using nonviolent means, we promote positive alternatives to conflicts that benefits all parties, and a society that reflects the best we can be as human beings.

VFP Chapter 49 invites military veterans, families, and supporters who are committed to constructive alternatives to conflict to work with us for a more peaceful and just America and world.

Active members of VFP Chapter 49 constitute the ultimate authority for all organizational functions and activities. Chapter membership is based on being a current member of the national Veterans For Peace organization; on agreement and commitment to the operating guidelines of our local chapter; on ongoing participation in chapter activities and events; and on responsible representation of Veterans For Peace.

Membership includes veterans, those who have served in the U.S. armed forces; and associate members, those who believe in the Veterans For Peace mission and wish to work with our local group on peace and justice issues.
